Siempre que compramos algo, es común preguntar el precio de las cosas. En inglés, una forma de preguntar por el price (precio) es con la pregunta How much is it? (¿Cuánto cuesta?) en singular y también en plural How much are they? (¿Cuánto cuestan?).
Ejemplo 1:
– How much is it?
– It is 10 dollars.
Ejemplo 2:
– How much are they?
– They are 10 dollars.
Observación: Es posible reemplazar los pronombres it y they por el nombre del objeto. Por ejemplo, si estás comprando una computadora, la pregunta sería How much is the computer? (¿Cuánto cuesta la computadora?) o si estás comprando más de un bolso, la pregunta sería How much are the bags? (¿Cuánto cuestan los bolsos?).
Pronombres Demostrativos (Demonstrative Pronouns)
Los pronombres demostrativos en inglés se utilizan para mostrar la distancia de algún objeto/persona, indicando si está cerca o lejos.

Números y precios
Cuando necesitamos hablar del precio de algo, utilizamos los números cardinales en inglés. Sin embargo, existen formas más rápidas de hablar de los precios y son bastante comunes en el día a día. Vamos a aprender. ¡Vamos allá!
Primero, vamos a aprender las monedas en inglés.

Observación: La palabra «bucks» se utiliza informalmente para reemplazar la palabra «dólar» en las frases. Por ejemplo, «one-dollar» se convierte en «one buck» o «10 dólares» se convierte en «ten bucks«.
- How much is that? It’s 50.89 (It’s fifty dollars and eighty-nine cents).
- How much is this? It’s 10.66 (It’s ten dollars and sisty-six cents).
- How much is this toy? It’s 88.50 (It’s eighty-eight dollars and fifty cents).
La división entre los números se realiza con punto y no con coma.
Otra observación sobre los precios es que, si algo cuesta más de 100 dólares, puedes dividir ese número para pronunciarlo. A continuación, se muestran algunos ejemplos:

Para números a partir de 1.000:

Recordamos que la pronunciación de cero en los precios es ‘oh’.
